After more than two years of heartbreaking separation, my cousin is finally close to reuniting with her four children and husband—but she needs help covering the cost of plane tickets to bring them safely to Canada.

She came to Canada as a refugee from Colombia after fleeing a dangerous situation that put her life at risk. The decision to leave her children behind was unimaginably painful, but it was the only way to protect them. During her absence, her children have been living in hiding for their own safety. Her husband has also been unable to work due to ongoing threats and fear for his life.

Since arriving in Canada, my cousin Andrea has worked incredibly hard to rebuild her life and secure a stable future for her family. She is now a certified Early Childhood Educator (ECE), working full-time while navigating the complex process of becoming a permanent resident. She is the sole provider for her entire family, sending what she can back home while managing the high cost of living on her own.

Her application for permanent residency is now in progress, and as soon as it’s approved, her children and husband will finally be able to join her. But international travel for a family of five is incredibly expensive—and the cost of airfare is currently beyond what she can manage alone.

We are reaching out to the community for support. This fundraiser will go directly toward purchasing plane tickets so her family can be together again, safe and whole. Any donation—big or small—will help bring a mother back to her children and give this family the fresh start they’ve worked so hard for.

She lives in a modest two-bedroom apartment, and any support in the form of furniture or essentials would mean the world. Some of the items that would help include:

• Clothing for children (ages 6, 11, 13, and 15)

• Backpacks and school supplies

• Toys, books, and games

• Winter coats and shoes

• Kitchenware and household items
