This is go fund me is to help raise funds for this very deserving Dad, Jason, and his son, Oliver!
This is their story:
Jason is a single father of his 13 year old son, Oliver. They both live here in Witless Bay, NL.
Jason has been raising Oliver on his own since he was four years old after Oliver's mother passed away tragically. Oliver's mother was Courtney Lake and to this day she has yet to be found.
Oliver is a 13 year old boy who loves to play basketball! He has been a part of many school and local teams here these past few years! No matter their struggles, Jason has been the one to make sure Oliver gets to all of his practices and games and is his biggest cheerleader. You will always find Jason in the stands filming every game while he cheers at the same time!!
While raising Oliver, Jason went back to school and graduated from Film School in 2023. He went on to get a job working on a TV show which was a job that he had dreamed of since he was 10 years old!
Within weeks of getting his dream job, Jason started having health problems and subsequently had to have his left leg amputated from the knee down on April 18, 2024.
While waiting for a prosthetic, in hopes of getting his life back on track and less than 2 months later, Jason was diagnosed with Melanoma Cancer in his other foot. Jason has been recently told by his doctors that he will have to undergo a significant surgery which involves removing parts of his right foot as well as cancer treatment.
Right now Jason is struggling physically and also struggling financially to provide for him and Oliver. Jason has a car however it needs an extensive amount of work to be safe for him to get back and forth to treatments. Jason is unable to work and him and Oliver REALLY need our community to rally around them right now!
