Hi I'm Michelle and along with my friends Diane and Lisa from Newton, we have set up this go fund me page, to help local people in our community, that we already know are struggling to survive.
This is the 4th fundraiser we have done and the 3rd time we have helped with your support to provide Christmas Hampers to those who really need them.
We all live local to Kirkham, in the North West of the UK.
With several more months of hardship starting in the build up to Christmas and with many businesses on the verge of bankruptcy, it is estimated that 3 million more people will face unemployment in the next few weeks. With the universal credit cuts, rising costs, massive inflation, even for those in work this year, we know this Christmas will be harder than ever.
Many of whom will go without fresh meat and vegetables, or heating. So many we are aware of locally already here, can barely afford to feed their families day to day.
So, we are fund raising £5,250 to ensure that 100 families from within the Kirkham and district area, who are most in need, will each have a Christmas hamper delivered to their home in time for the big day.
We have the support already of several local businesses to provide food for the hampers at cost price or heavily disounted. Any spare cash left over will be used for weekly shops for local families in January, which we have also done previously, via Dianes fresh food for working families initiative.
This includes as always: Graham Eyes high class Butchers in warton, who provide the meat at cost price, as well as Annies Egg Shed in Newton who provide fresh fruit and veg. These amazing supporters are amongst other super suppliers who step up to help us too.
We need to raise the money by the 4th December, so we can guarantee placing the 100 food orders with local suppliers, at the discounted rates they have offered out as well as being able to let the families know this is one more major thing they don't need to worry about this Christmas
Each hamper will contain enough food to feed a family of 4-6 for a few days over the Christmas period, including a full Christmas dinner.
A 2kg Turkey crown, A 0.75kg loin of Pork, pigs in blankets, fresh vegetables, potatoes, fresh eggs, christmas puddings and anything else we can afford/get donated too)
We would be so very very grateful for any offer of support you can give towards this project as we already have a growing list of names of families in need from our work in 2021 and 2022 and we know by Christmas the list will be even longer...
