We’re reaching out with an exciting — and deeply meaningful — goal. At our early childhood center, we care for children from infancy through kindergarten, nurturing their minds, hearts, and curiosity every single day. But one vital piece is missing: a dedicated, age-appropriate nature-based playground designed especially for our preschool and prekindergarten learners.

Why This Playground Matters

Play is more than fun — it’s essential for healthy growth. Through outdoor play, our littlest learners:

• Develop gross and fine motor skills, balance, coordination, and foundational core strength.

• Build language and social skills as they share, take turns, and explore together.

• Gain confidence, creativity, and resilience — lessons that last a lifetime.

Additionally, YWCA Ulster County is committed to welcoming the community members to explore our playground on evenings and weekends and holidays, creating opportunities for midtown and uptown children and families to gather and grow in a space organized around the needs of children ages 2-5.

We dream of a playground with safe climbing structures, sensory panels, trees and flowers, gardening experiences, and cozy spaces that spark imagination — a place where laughter echoes, friendships blossom, and little feet can run free.

Our Ultimate Goal: $450,000

• Purchase customized, high-quality, safe playground equipment tailored for ages 2-5

• Prepare the site with dynamic safety surfacing and appropriate fencing

• Add welcoming touches like benches and shade,
