We are a group of volunteers from across Scotland and Poland. From the beginning of the Russian invasion, we have been actively volunteering - collecting and delivering over 15 lorries (24 tonnes each) of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. With the help of the private sector and occasional Scottish local council support, we have also managed to collect funds to transport those lorries safely; however, to help more efficiently, we decided to change the route of our actions. We planned to avoid transport costs, so we decided to travel to Ukrainian orphanages and children's hospitals to buy necessary items to fulfil the current needs. However, once there we were deeply moved with the actual severity of the situation and were asked to participate in moving vulnerable children away from the most immediate danger zones. Our trip to Ukraine took place between the 29th of April and the 2nd of May 2022; we visited Tarnopol, Bucza, Kyiv and Lutsk. We, therefore, decided that the best plan of action is to purchase human carriers vans that accommodate nine persons each; we are planning to accomplish that with the help of Polish charity organisation called "Wstan i Chodz" from Pabianice.
We ask for your help in sponsoring purchasing vehicles, covering fuel costs to start with and then helping us raise funds to keep those children fed and cared for until they find a new house across Scotland and Poland. One trip from Pabianice to Kiev costs 600GBP for fuel; one minivan currently costs 5,000GBP. We can afford to buy one minivan and cover the cost of one round trip, using our private financial resources. Our volunteers, males and female drivers, risking their lives will not expect to be paid for their heroic work; all the funds will be set against transport, vehicle purchase costs, and children's accommodation in safe locations. We have developed a plan of action, going into direct danger zones, as far as Dnipro and Donbus area, and not leaving children that are the most in danger behind. We can not disclose any specific plan of action due to safety reasons; however, we will keep everyone updated via the charity "Wstan i Chodz" Facebook page as much as possible https://www.facebook.com/wstanichodz/
We encourage you to share this information with anyone who cares for vulnerable children’s lives, disregarding any political causes; these children are the least to be blamed for the current situation in their beloved home. They spend time in a war zone; this impacts their lives daily. We are pressured by time, so please, if you could donate, run fundraisers and share this crowdfunding with anyone and everyone, that would be saving children’s lives literally. Today is the day for us to step up, be united, fight for humanity and the future of Ukrainian children.
