Love and support for Jose

It is with great humility that I, Erika Hernandez, write the following statement asking all friends and family for support and help during this trying time. My father Jose emigrated to the United States with his wife Rosario Hernandez and then toddler, his daughter, Erika Hernandez in 1992. He came to the United States with his family with nothing to their name in search for an opportunity and a better future. Jose has never taken a sick day and is not one to stay still and because of his worth ethic his health started to fail in 2022, culminating in July 2023 with a fall. His quality of life has been severely affected and he has had to stop working for 2 months now. As some of you may know, he was diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease and severe impingement in his cervical spine area. These combined diagnoses lead to the decision to have a cervical laminectomy with a fusion. His rehabilitation is going to take some time and I hope he can get back to work soon. For 30 years he has served the community of New Braunfels to provide a future for his wife and daughters. If you have met him, you’ll get that.

I ask again, with all humility for your help as my family navigates through this difficult time. To all our friends and family that reach out every day and to everyone that has already helped in a variety of ways, I thank you from the bottom of my heart! Thank you for taking the time to read this.
