Hey everyone. We all can’t even begin to imagine the pain and stress Caden, Ashley and Britt are going through right now. Let’s blow up this GoFundMe so financial worry isn’t added to their list. They need to be with Caden and not have to worry about anything else. I will copy an update from Ashley and Britt here. Latest update listed first.

03.05.2021 - “Hi all, just a quick update as I can't possibly message everyone who has been giving us so much love and support. Caden took a turn for the worse this morning. Vomiting blood and basically lifeless. The pediatric department in Sydney were absolutely amazing. He went in critical and they were able to get him stabilized. Caden and I were life flighted to the IWK Children's Hospital in Halifax. He wakes up long enough to say he has a sore belly and back out again. All I know so far is he has a stomach bleed and a blockage in his intestines somewhere. Please pray for my strong little boy. I will update when I know more.”

03.04.2021 - “Caden saw the pediatrician today. He had a full urinalysis which came back good. He gained 2lbs in two weeks due to the steroids and lack of mobility. His heart rate was a little high, but also from the steroids. Unfortunately, there's not much more they can do besides giving steroids, which he already takes at max dose. Today he had a very sore foot with new bruising, and extreme scrotal pain with severe swelling. He wasn't able to walk all day until an hour before bedtime. The rash covers most of his arms and legs now and it's become itchy. The pediatrician phoned later in the day to say he consulted with several specialists at the IWK to see if there was anything further they could do. One of the specialists said the scrotal pain and swelling for kids is basically unbearable pain. They suggested if there's no improvement by tomorrow, that he should be admitted back to the hospital. So the pediatrician has that all set up for him should he need to go tomorrow. We will wait and see how he is in the morning and go from there. They will be able to regulate his pain better through an IV again.

On a totally unrelated note, he also had his yearly checkup with the traveling IWK Cardiac Clinic. For the new friends we have who don't know about his heart condition, he was born with a congenital heart defect. He has a Bicuspid Aortic Valve. He had an echocardiogram and an appointment with the Cardiologist. Not great news. In 2 years, the pressure in his heart pretty much doubled. In 2019, the pressure gradient was at 22. Today, it's at a 42. Once it reaches 50, they will need to do a balloon procedure to open up the fused valve. But he could remain steady for weeks, months, or years. It's really unpredictable. So he will be monitored every 6 months now instead of a full year.

We also had several visits from family today, with special gifts for Caden. Thank you to everyone who stopped by today! We had a very special visit from one of Caden's daycare teachers (and adopted grandmother lol ) Miss Angela. Caden absolutely adores her and loves her so very much. She stopped by with some very sweet cards made by his daycare friends and teachers! And a goodie bag from the teachers! He misses daycare so much and always looks forward to his special visits from Miss Angie. Thank you so very much to the staff and kiddies at Munro Academy Early Learning Centre! ”
