My name is Corey, and I’m a stay-at-home mom raising an amazing little boy. One of my greatest joys is nurturing in him the values I hold dearest: community, curiosity, education, exploration, and giving back.
Books are at the heart of our home. They help us discover new worlds, understand others, and grow together. As a lifelong reader, fostering a love of reading isn’t just a passion—it’s a legacy.
That legacy began with my mother, Tara, who passed away 15 years ago this November. She always emphasized learning, service, and community involvement. She constantly had a book in her hand—and at least a thousand more on her shelves. Her love of reading shaped who I am, and now I’m passing it on to my son, just as she passed it on to me.
In honor of her memory, and to share that love of reading with others, we’re hoping to bring a Little Free Library (LFL) to our neighborhood.
We’re active supporters of Little Free Libraries and often visit those in surrounding neighborhoods. Sadly, our own community doesn’t have one. With busy roads and no sidewalks, it’s difficult-especially for kids and families-to safely access the nearest LFLs. That’s why we’re hoping to create a safe, walkable hub for literacy and connection right here at home.
Starting a Little Free Library has been a dream of mine for years. I’m fully committed to maintaining it for the long term. I regularly purchase gently used books from local library sales and plan to stock the LFL with a diverse, engaging collection for readers of all ages.
The only thing standing in our way is the initial cost to purchase, register, and build the library. As a single-income family, it’s just out of reach right now-but with your support, we can make this dream a reality.
This Little Free Library would be so much more than a book-sharing box. It would be a tribute to my mom-a place where children are inspired, where neighbors connect, and where a lifelong love of reading can take root and flourish.
Thank you for taking the time to hear our story. With your help, we can share the joy of books and build something truly meaningful for our community-one reader at a time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Corey
