Help create Community Assistance Fund (CAF)

Fundraising for Sikhs for Autism

We are seeking funds to help us create a Community Assistance Fund (CAF). The funds are to be used for assisting autism community with possible education assistance, establishing caregivers network, delivering parent and school engagement session, and operational expense. We would like to generate ongoing funds and expand assistance in providing vital support to autistic individuals and their caregivers.

We are actively engaged with local Greater Toronto Area (GTA) schools through various sessions with parents of autistic and special needs students including forward planning workshop. In 2024 we collaboratively co-lead survey and focus group research on perspectives of Sikh caregivers of individuals with autism in Canada. This research was co-lead by Queens University (Kingston, Ontario).

Sikhs for Autism works to advocate and create awareness around autism, especially within the Sikh, Punjabi-speaking and South Asian communities.

Striving to work collaboratively towards building inclusive communities through awareness and advocating autism acceptance that ensure the rights and needs of the autistic community.

This organization can be helpful for educators and school communities with large Sikh/Punjabi populations to bring awareness to autism and culturally relevant support services. We frequently do professional development with schools and discuss our experiences with school communities. We have dedicated 7 years playing key roles in creating awareness around autism by engaging communities and media to start an open conversation around autism in effort to remove stigma around the topic.
