Hi everyone,
The Risk Assurance Team in PwC will be cycling 30km or walking 10km on the 4th July to raise funds for our 2024 chosen charities- Cycle Against Suicide & Enable Ireland! These are both great causes and we include a small piece of information below about these charities.
Cycle Against Suicide is an awareness charity that makes a valuable contribution to the public education of mental health by changing the narrative surrounding suicide. When an individual is vulnerable enough to consider taking their own life, silence is read as indifference. With hundreds of people dying by suicide in Ireland each year and research indicating that thousands more contemplate it, we all have a role to play to collectively address the challenges that suicide presents. In a bid to save more lives, Cycle Against Suicide through its programmes, sets out to change culture and create a society that openly talks about suicide to allow people to speak up and seek help. This will be our 4th year working with Cycle Against Suicide. If you would like more information on their great work, see link below to their website:
Enable Ireland is a national disability service provider operating in 14 counties across Ireland and providing services to children and adults with physical, sensory, intellectual disabilities and autism. Enable Ireland is a charity put forward by our partner Moira Cronin to recognise the fantastic work this charity does supporting 13,000 children and adults in Ireland with a range of disabilities including physical, sensory, intellectual disabilities and autism. Moira has seen close up the help that this charity was able to organise for a member of her family. A little girl who happened to be born early was, at the age of 16 months, showing she needed help with certain motor skills. After exploring every avenue, Enable Ireland assessed and entered her into their programme in Sandymount. Enable Ireland have worked almost weekly to give her the physiotherapy and support she needs and have provided the family with a number of other supports. With the help of this charity and the early intervention they provided, the young girl was able to accelerate her development and is doing very well. Moira feels this charity could be funded to help even more children when this help is vital for development and not easy to source in our health service. If you would like more information on their great work, see link below to their website:
Any donations are welcome and will go directly to these great causes :)
Thanks in advance,
PwC Charity Team
*Note: GoFundMe restricts linking this funding page to a single charity. We are raising funds offline as well as through this platform and we will apportion fundraising to each charity as appropriate when we complete our fundraising campaign.
Reminder: It's ok not to feel OK, and it's absolutely OK to ask for help!
