As a clinical research professional for nearly two decades, I’ve worked in research across many disease spaces but none have touched me more deeply than pediatric cardiology and rare neuromuscular diseases. Those experiences taught me that while science drives progress, it’s human connection that truly moves us forward.
From 2021 to 2025, I was working in the rare neuromuscular disease space. At the 2023 CureDuchenne Futures Conference, I heard the incredible story of Justin and Patrick, two best friends who completed the 500-mile Camino de Santiago together, with Patrick pushing Justin’s wheelchair the entire way. Their journey, captured in I’ll Push You, reminded me why I chose this path: courage, compassion, and community can move mountains.
After two and a half years on the waitlist, I’ve been selected as one of only 90 participants to join the 2026 Accessible Camino, where I’ll help push, pull, and walk alongside individuals living with rare diseases.
I’m raising funds to support my participation and to “pay it forward” by sponsoring a volunteer for the 2027 journey. Every step, every gift, helps carry someone forward.
