Purchase an AAC device aiding progressive learning for Fred

Hello everyone,

Im Ivy and I am raising money by jumping out of an aeroplane before my 30th birthday this year in October. To all of you that know me, will know how petrified of heights I am so this will not only be a huge overcoming of my own fear but also all the funds raised will be going towards supporting my non-verbal 5 year old nephew.

Freddie was diagnosed with severe Autism and Global development delay just before his 3rd birthday. Since then, has had further diagnosis including Sleep onset association disorder, Chronic insomnia, Sensory processing difficulties, Pica and is also awaiting an ADHD assessment. Freddie's main struggle is communication; because he can't speak he becomes unbelievably frustrated leading to frequent episodes of self harm which is awful to be the first hand witness of especially when you feel so helpless. The self harming means Freddie will smash his face off the walls, doors and even the floor, he will actively punch himself which we know is out of frustration of not being able to communicate his needs.

Having the AAC device can help him communicate his wants and needs without verbal communication which of course at this stage of his life he is unable to do so. The device we are purchasing is the same device that has been recommend by Freddie's school as he currently uses this there, the same device also allows for further education as he grows with the device. There are many educational apps that can be purchased as and when Freddie progresses through his learning phases meaning this will be beneficial to his life for many years to come, constantly growing with him.

The official sky dive date will be confirmed in the near future and this will be videoed as well as live streamed for all of you to watch me probably be sick with fear beforehand due to my phobia of heights. However, I know this is something I want to overcome and there's no better way to do it whilst also raising money for something so close to my heart.
