PT Sand Volleyball Eagle Project
Hello!
My name is Ryan Deegan, and I am currently a Life Scout in Troop 1313. I am working toward my Eagle Scout rank, the highest rank in Boy Scouts. One of my Eagle Scout requirements is to plan and execute a service project that benefits my community.
Many of you know me as a rising junior at Peters Township High School. I am active in my school community as an honors student, class officer, student ambassador, FBLA member, and athlete. I run for the cross-country team in the fall and play volleyball in the spring. I have been a Scout for over five years, leading my Troop in various roles, participating in leadership training, and focusing on skills advancement. A highlight of my experience was attending the World Scout Jamboree in 2019. Over the years, I have benefitted from the comradery of my classmates, teammates, and fellow scouts. For this reason, I have chosen an Eagle Project that will encourage teamwork and cooperation; it will be a meaningful reflection of who I am and leave a lasting impact on our community. I intend to create a place where classmates, colleagues, and friends can gather for fitness and fun!
My Eagle Project is the construction of a sand volleyball court for my beneficiary, the Peters Township School District. Not only will the sand court provide cross-training for the District’s volleyball teams, but it will be used for physical education class activity, volleyball camps, booster tournaments, and community recreation.
I have received all approvals needed to begin my work. With this letter to you, I am kicking off my fundraising campaign. My total project cost is approximately $16,000. In addition to playing equipment, I will need to purchase over $1000 in drainage materials, $3000 in gravel, and $10,000 in specialty volleyball sand – 200 tons of sand at nearly $60 a ton.
