Medical Mission Trip to East Africa!
Donation protected
Hello friends and family,
I would like to take a few moments to tell you about an upcoming medical clinic that I have been invited to participate in; and to extend you an invitation to become part of this experience here in the US. On behalf of International Medical Relief, I will be working alongside other qualified volunteers and medical professionals to provide health care in some of the most impoverished regions of the world. We are confident that we will be able to help more people than ever, but we need financial assistance to help the trip be successful.
This upcoming March, I am hoping to head to East Africa and provide medical relief and support to the people of Tanzania, who have very little access to medical care and supplies. However, I cannot accomplish this without your help and support!
The majority of the cases we will witness are treatable and we will bring medicines and medical supplies to help these people and save lives. We will be providing humanitarian outreach to the physical needs of these people and also give them hope through community health classes, caring, sharing, and showing them our compassion. While one week is too little time to treat all the sick, it is nevertheless ample time to plant the seeds of hope in their lives for a promising future.
I invite you to take part with our medical team through financial giving, encouragement, and support. As a volunteer team member, I am responsible for covering the trip expenses. To take part in this once-in-a-lifetime experience, the minimum donation I need to provide is $3100 and the average round-trip flight is approximately $1500-1800. I have set a goal of $5200 to cover the donation and additional expenses.
If after thoughtful consideration, you feel led to support me financially, please donate to this GoFundMe page, or if easier, I will add my Venmo link to this page as well. (QR Code for Venmo at bottom of page)
If you are unable to help financially, It would mean so much if you could share this link and pass on my message.
Below I have added some more explicit background information regarding this mission… Please continue to read to learn more about why this is important to me.
Since 2001, health care is no longer offered to Tanzanians as a free service. Many citizens find the new national health insurance plan that is offered by the government to be unaffordable and therefore the majority of Tanzania has very little access to medical attention. Tanzania has the seventh-lowest physician-to-patient ratio in the world, with approximately .31 doctors for every 10,000 residents. These people need our help.
During this trip, I will be able to provide medical care, equipment, knowledge and compassion in a variety of settings from orphanages to villages to game parks. Some common causes of death in Tanzania include neonatal disorders, lower respiratory infections, and HIV/AIDS. The clinics for this trip will be set up in five different small villages that border Arusha, Africa. Our primary goal of this trip is to care for locals with treatable, and often preventable, conditions. At the clinic, I will treat conditions related to STDs, malaria, sepsis, and diarrheal diseases. I will also help treat more conditions including HIV, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. The other main focus of this mission is women’s healthcare, so we will offer special clinic care for women and their infants.
Through this mission, I will be able to work with communities in Tanzania to provide health care services and equipment, but also to provide education to create a more sustainable and long-lasting impact towards the wellbeing of that community. International Medical Relief (IMR) goal is to continue to improve health outcomes of the communities we serve and focus on prevention, health, nutrition, and strengthening health systems through partnerships with local medical staff.
Thank you to everyone for all of your amazing support and generosity.
