Providing Prosthetics in Peru
Donation protected
Freehand is a project within USC 3D4E, whose mission is to provide customizable, 3D-printed prosthetic hands free of charge for children in need in the Los Angeles area. (You can find us at www.3d4e.org/freehand) .
Earlier this year, we learned about Angel, an 8-year-old boy living in an impoverished village in Peru, who does not have arms or legs. Our team was inspired to help him and over the past couple of months, we have been working to create a 3D-printed prosthetic arm for him. With our prosthetic, we hope to improve the quality of Angel’s life by giving him the chance to experience the activities we all take for granted, like holding a pencil, brushing our teeth, or drinking water out of a bottle. Now, we are asking for funds to help cover the cost of Angel’s prosthetic and the travel to Peru, where Angel’s family lives. We hope to deliver his prosthetic in person this August. The delivery process is essential for the prosthetic to be of any use to Angel. During the delivery, we will ensure the prosthetic fits, make the proper adjustments for safety and comfort, and most importantly teach Angel how to properly use his new hand. Our team is eager to make a difference in this young boy’s life, and we could use your help to do so. Whatever you can donate helps, and please spread the word about this project! We look forward to keeping you updated with pictures of our progress. Thank you so much!
