- Provide clean reliable water for the village of Diana in the District of Kokouma of the country Guinea, West Africa.
- Current well is the sole source to provided water for 83 people. Well is not deep enough to supply water during dry season.
- The plan is to drill an additional 50 meters into an aquifer.
Mamadu Boi Djau is a remarkable young man who has shown me a selfless desire to help his village. I first met Mamadu in Switzerland where he worked for me as a manual labor migrant.
I have first hand knowledge of his work ethic and commitment to his village. He saved his wages to send back to his village and personally funded a crew to cut a trail 3.5 km. through the mountainside jungle that connected his village to a larger settlement that had a school. His community had no formal education. Now it’s children can attend a real classroom. His next desire is to improve the communal water source. The current water is unfit and dries up during the dry season. The community cannot care for any garden or livestock during this time.
We have received two professional quotes to improve both the sanitary nature and quantity of water provided. We hope to use the next dry season March 2024 to construct the project. This phase will still require the water to be extracted manually but our hope will be to install a solar pump in the future that can be centrally distributed to the garden and livestock areas.
All funds collected will directly be applied to improving the water quality in Diana. I will go to Africa to personally supervise the use of the funds and accomplish any needed training.
I ask for your help knowing that a little effort and money will dramatically improve lives in this small part of the world.
