Help Provide Walls and Windows Before Winter
Donation protected

- While touring in North Vietnam, one of our native guides named My (Pronounced "Me") shared the struggle she faces providing a home for her children and family in the high mountains near a town called Sapa. Earning less than $3,000/year each, her husband and she have only recently completed the outer structure of a small home in which they, their two children and grandparents live. Winter will arrive shortly with below-freezing temperatures (even in Vietnam, especially at their altitude) and they have not been able to afford windows or interior walls. Without these, the entire family will be forced to use makeshift plastic and blankets to cordon off a space around the central cooking fire pit for warmth. As members of the isolated Hmong tribe, they are extremely hard-working and resourceful in growing rice, making their own clothes, foraging for food and caring for their elders without outside support. I believe most of us will enjoy heat and walls this winter and I’d like to ask if a few of us could directly help this family build the same for themselves. I feel like we can make an immediate difference for them this winter. Please consider donating what you can. A single interior wall may cost just $200. Windows walls and doors total about $5,000. So little can make a massive improvement in their lives by protecting them from the cold and providing privacy and comfort. I have a friend in the area who will help source the materials and provide support. Thank you.
