Hi, my name is Steve Lewis. I would like to raise some money to buy sleeping pads for the unhoused people in my area of Little Rock, AR. I commute to work by bicycle most evenings (I work nights at Rock Region Metro) and see folks sleeping on the benches along Capitol Ave. in front of the bus station and farther east toward I-30.
This is the sleeping pad I’m looking at: https://www.amazon.com/Therm-Rest-RidgeRest-Classic-Sleeping/dp/B00HANOY9I/ref=sr_1_1?crid=4BCTIAC3SYVC&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.inVP397PqAzLZJcX1Ni8aQpjpHixPaaaRjwGCbVi-LeWHiWu8nO9Iha8Qz2PkLO2ZkJVR9xBh5f-MbM1eeInGy3R6Nh32vW4nnoIvOiLawcjP8iSfGi-IfvyhAVgeaiT.-6uy16HtGC6J6SXgXhDXwb59B6K_54a-NUKODoigQQc&dib_tag=se&keywords=ridgerest&qid=1765554793&sprefix=ridgeres%2Caps%2C451&sr=8-1
I’ve owned a couple of these in the past and am sure they’ll hold up under daily use. There are cheaper alternatives, but the quality is lacking. I hope to raise enough to purchase two dozen, as I may branch out to other nearby areas where the unhoused congregate.
I would also like to buy hand warmers and emergency blankets to hand out with the pads.
I plan on providing receipts and possibly photographs if any of the recipients are willing to have their picture taken.
If you live in Little Rock and frequent the Quapaw Quarter, you may be familiar with the area I’m referring to and numerous others and even specific individuals. I would love to see every one of them walking around with a sleeping pad rolled up with the rest of their belongings.
Anyway, I hope you can help. Any amount you can donate would be greatly appreciated!
Steve.
