Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

Our family is reaching out with open hearts and a deeply urgent need. My cousin, a loving 30-year-old woman with Down Syndrome and other health complications, has recently come under our care after enduring years of unmet needs, medical neglect, and unsafe living conditions. We are determined to give her the safe, stable, and dignified life she deserves—but we can’t do it alone.

She came to us with worn-out shoes, no access to a proper walker, and has not received consistent medical, dental, or therapeutic care. Her mobility is limited, and her emotional well-being has suffered due to isolation and lack of support. We are stepping in as caregivers to provide her with the love, structure, and specialized care that she has long been denied.

We urgently need support to address the following needs:

Safe, handicap-accessible transportation or somehow adapt our existing vehicle to her needs so we can get her to medical appointments and community activities.

Medical care and specialist evaluations to catch up on years of unmet needs (including dental work, vision, and general care).

Assistive equipment like a walker, orthotic shoes, and adult incontinence supplies.

Modifications to our home such as a ramp, bed and bedding, modifications to the yard to make it safe for her to access, and a handicap-accessible bathroom to ensure she can move safely and comfortably.

Therapeutic and emotional support services with providers who specialize in developmental disabilities. She does have certain funds and insurances available to her but we are not sure what these are just yet and need to set her up with some stability ASAP.

Healthy meals and fresh groceries to support her healing and strength.

Clothing, hygiene, and bedding supplies to help restore her dignity and comfort.

We are committed to giving her a life filled with love, safety, and inclusion—but the financial load is heavy, and time is critical. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a real difference in her daily life and long-term future.
