Provide free, non-violent education to children in Nepal

Hello! My name is Anna Parrott and I am a 22 year old from Canada. I am currently in Nepal and volunteering for a non profit organization that offers free education to children. There are two different schools apart of this organization that I’ll be volunteering at, one is called Heaven Hill Academy and the other is New Marigold Boarding School.

Heaven hill academy is a children’s school that was founded in 2015 by Shamser Thapa to provide free, non violent education to the poorest children of the community. It is located in Gaunshahar, Nepal, about 8 hours away from the main city Kathmandu. New Marigold was founded in 2022 and is located in a small village called Chiti, also about 8 hours away from Kathmandu.

I plan to stay at both of these schools and volunteer for about 3-4 weeks, providing assistance in various tasks including construction of classrooms (for the new school being built), teaching english or various sports, providing child care at the nursery, or assisting in the kitchen to help cook lunch for the kids.

My goal is to raise money to help keep the project alive. The funds will help with purchasing school and building materials, paying teachers salaries, buying paint for the classrooms, and providing support for the school children. Every single dollar raised goes a long way in Nepal. Here are some examples of cost estimates (in Euro):

- €30: pens and pencils for one class to write down creative ideas

- €10: one month sanitary pads for adolescent girls

- €75: exercise books to practice for one class

- €55: one month of soap and sanitizer for clean hands and heath protection.

- €200: one set of uniforms for one class

- €600: one month of rice and beans to provide lunch for students and staff

Your support and funds raised will not only benefit the school but also the local economy, as the materials are purchased at local shops where the prices are more affordable. I will ensure to keep everyone updated with where the funds exactly go and how they are spent, along with many photos:)
