Help Asheville Flood Victims Get Essential Supplies

Hi, my name is Juan Diego Reyes. I’m a Colombian documentary photographer and long-time resident of Asheville, NC, where my family has lived for over 20 years. I was out of town in DC when Hurricane Helene hit, causing historic flooding that has devastated my hometown. Now, I’m heading back home on Tuesday, with plans to fill my car with as many supplies as possible—food, water, and gas—for my family, friends, and anyone else I can assist along the way.

At this time, there’s only one route into Asheville, and resources are scarce. The entire city is under a boil-water advisory, power outages are widespread, and there is little information about when essential services like water and electricity will be restored. Stores are either closed or have long lines with limited supplies, leaving many people unsure of how long they will need to wait for basic necessities.

As a photojournalist, I’ve covered stories of communities in crisis, but this time, it’s personal. I’m asking for your support to help those affected by this disaster. Every donation will go directly towards purchasing non-perishable foods, bottled water, gasoline, and other critical items to bring back to Asheville.
