Provide Acupuncture Healthcare in rural Nepal
Donation protected
Dear compassionate friends,
My name is Ehlana and I'm a Registered Acupuncturist. I'm fundraising to support my journey to Nepal to provide acupuncture care in a rural clinic. The acupuncture clinic is the only healthcare facility in the area and people walk for many hours to wait and see the practitioner. Most of the patients are sustenance farmers - this means their livelihood centers around them being well enough to work and provide for themselves and their families. Consistent access to acupuncture care has a big impact on their lives!
My plan and goal:
I will travel to Nepal and stay with a host family while I volunteer my services to villagers and farmers. The acupuncture clinic is the only healthcare facility in the area, people line up and wait all day to see the practitioner.
I will be working in the clinic 6 days a week, seeing 20-30 patients per day.
This is an opportunity to use my skills in an impactful way and learn from treating conditions that I wouldn't regularly see here in North America.
My intention is to be of service however I can and to learn. I look forward to sharing this knowledge with patients I treat in Canada when I return.
I welcome the growth of meeting new challenges.
My Expenses:
- Flight from Victoria, BC to Nepal. $2000
- Mindful Medicine Worldwide Acupuncture Volunteer program for 3 months: 4500$.
This is used to cover the costs of funding the program, running the clinic and necessities such as needles, moxa, herbs, herbal topicals and other items used for patient care, lodging and food.
- Visas and extra expenses: 1000$
My background:
I was first exposed to Eastern Medicine through yoga. I have been practicing yoga for over a decade and teaching on and off for 8 years. Desiring more context to offer to those I worked with, I chose to study Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. Both modalities hold mindfulness as a pillar in how we can tend to our health.
I have seen incredible lasting effects on pain, chronic conditions, mental health and hormonal imbalances through this traditional medicine. Additionally, I'm inspired by the economic efficiency of acupuncture and the potential that creates for healthcare outreach. Big impact with minimal equipment necessary.
The non-for profit organization I am working with is Mindful Medicine Worldwide and you can read more about their mission statement and work here:

The Impact of your Donation:
While I am committed to this cause, the expenses are substantial. By fundraising I am asking for the support of my community.
By donating you are directly supporting healthcare outreach and making a difference in the quality of life for the patients who don't otherwise have access to healthcare.
Your contribution will also support my dream and mission to be of service and to develop my skills and knowledge in alternative medicine.
Thank you for taking the time to read and consider this project.
With Immense Gratitude,
