Protecting Amelia: A Mother's Fight

Please help keep my little one safe, and get me out of this abusive marriage

My story, without too many ugly details:

Hello, my name is Stephanie, and I am reaching out for help in one of the most difficult times of my life. Within the last year and a half, my world has been turned upside down when my husband, George Stanton, was accused and later convicted of a serious crime — he is now a registered sex offender due to sexual abuse of a CHILD. (Due to privacy concerns, I will not be sharing the details here, only that you are welcome to see his charges on the Idaho sex offender registry.) He was removed from our home and not allowed back while I was living there. I was working on becoming financially independent and was able to move out of our home in June 2024. It needed so many repairs that were beyond YouTube and me, and my girls and I needed to get out of the home that had so much trauma attached to it.

After the court proceedings from his criminal case finally ended and I moved, life settled down a little and I was able to take the difficult but necessary step of filing for divorce and starting over, but the cost of doing so is more than I can bear alone.

My biggest concern is my 3-year-old, Amelia. I am trying to keep her safe by gaining full custody of her, and to do that I have to continue this battle with him. I have already spent upwards of $7,000 in attorney and court fees, and there is still so much left to do. George has been filing declarations with the court full of lies, moving money around, taking himself off the business he owned, having his (now former) company put a lien on our home to try to avoid having to buy me out of it, and not being honest about his current income with the court.

I would normally never do this, but it has come to the point that I need to set my pride aside and reach out. I am asking for help to make this possible — to free myself from an abusive situation, keep my daughter safe, and take back control of my life. Your support will go directly toward:

• Legal Fees: The cost of a divorce attorney, filing fees, and legal representation.

• Emergency Funds: For basic living expenses during this transition period.
