Protecting a Trans Child’s Future—Help This Family Relocate

My name is Rosie Emrich and I am the parent of a trans child here in New Hampshire.

I want to share about a dear friend of mine and her two amazing kids—a bright and fierce 10 year old trans girl and her younger brother—living in Northern NH. We met two summers ago at Harbor Camps Family Camp, a camp for trans and non-binary youth, when our kids instantly bonded and became best friends. Since then, this family has become like family to us.

They are now facing an urgent and heartbreaking situation. Starting January 1, 2026, new laws in NH will ban gender-affirming care for youth. This will have a devastating impact on her daughter, who deserves to grow up with access to affirming, supportive care. Beyond this law, there are increasing threats to trans safety and basic rights here in NH, and this family urgently needs to relocate to a safer state.

The good news is they’ve been offered a below-market rental in Western Massachusetts, which is an incredible opportunity that makes this move possible. But like many single-parent households, the upfront costs of moving—security deposits, moving expenses, and the transition into a new community—are overwhelming. That’s where we can step in.

The goal is for them to be in their new home by November 2025, ahead of these harmful laws taking effect.
