In our pocket of the Lockyer Valley, we risk losing prime agriculture and farming land to industrial solar farms and BESS facilities. Council will be voting shortly on a Material Change of Use application that, if approved, would build one such facility in the heart of our small rural farming community.
Our community is not opposed to renewable energy. We are saying 'no' to industrial solar farms and BESS on prime agriculture and farming land. We are saying 'no' to disrupting farming in the Lockyer Valley, the Salad Bowl of Australia.
We have a business who is willing to print some positively messaged signage for us at cost price. This signage will be placed on fences (with property owner permission) around our area to raise awareness and unite as a community to protect this beautiful rich farmland and landscape in the corner of the valley.
Our goal is $1500. All money raised will be spent on signage. Should we have more than we need, it will be used to pay forward sign printing for other communities in similar circumstances.
