Hi, I'm Lauren Mones. I am a resident of St Pete Beach, Florida and one of the founders of the Florida Coalition for Safe Technology. We are deeply concerned about the widespread deployment and installation of 5G (soon to be 6G) small cell towers in our beautiful beach town (and the world).
Currently, St Pete Beach does not have a wireless ordinance that protects the people, animals and environment. This means that any Telecom company can install small cell 5G towers anywhere they like including any utility pole. As Kelly Lee McFredrick woke up one morning with a tower 20 feet from her house blocking her water view, so can any of us.
This is why it is CRUCIAL for us to raise this money to hire our own lawyer who is the best when it comes to Telecom law to draft a local wireless protective ordinance that protects the people, environment and wildlife from 5G infiltration. The money we raise together will be used 100% to pay for Andrew Campenelli's fee for drafting a local protective ordinance for St Pete Beach.
This is not anti-technology. This ordinance will not override State and Federal law regarding Telecom. It will protect the local government and community to the full extent possible within State and Federal regulations.
5G small cell towers should not be placed near residences, parks, churches or schools. This ordinance will help our city take back home rule.
