Protect Sara's Children and Find Them a Home
My dearest friend Sara Chirchirillo Quirk has been legally separated from her husband, Rusty Quirk, since March of 2017. She fled in the night with her three children, Kylie, Carter, and Adelynn, to escape his violent abuse. She has been forced to share custody against her wishes.
Unfortunately, the legal system in Louisiana does not support mothers and children escaping their abusers. It has been extremely time-consuming and expensive to file for divorce. Louisiana law requires that women wait one year before divorce will be granted. During that time, she has incurred more than $4000 in legal expenses while her abusive partner has attempted to gain custody of the children and fight child support payments.
To this point, Rusty has been unevenly paying child support since the separation, and is $9161.79 in arrears. He has refused to pay the mortgage on their home, leaving her vulnerable to homelessness as the bank moves forward with foreclosure.
Yesterday Rusty Quirk and his girlfriend, Megan McCoy, were arrested on possession and production of 135 counts of child pornography. He is currently in jail, facing charges in two separate Louisiana parishes.
Sara has filed for and received protective custody, and has her children in her custody. They have are safe, and have been cleared. But they are headed for years of uncertainty and difficult times as they deal with this trauma. She is is currently in her third term in nursing at Delta College, where she is consistently on the honor roll. She works as a mental health tech on the night shift, on an as needed basis, in order to supplement his uneven child support. Please follow this link to see Rusty Quirk's arrest report.
In order to protect the children, Sara needs to pay her lawyer, finish her divorce, and file for sole custody of her children as soon as possible. Every cent of this money will go first to pay her lawyer to secure custody and finalize the divorce. Any further funds will go to assist Sara in finding a home, continuing to pay tuition, and providing for her children's needs.
This money is urgently needed. All money donated will be deposited directly into Sara Quirk's private bank account. If you have anything to give - no matter how little - please donate to protect Sara's children.
