⏰ Time is running out — we need your help to make our voices heard!
In just weeks, bulldozers could move into one of Port Macquarie’s important koala habitats and cherished playground in Lighthouse Beach suburb and we will lose this forever!
The NSW Government plans to build a new preschool in the middle of a recognised koala corridor at Tacking Point Primary Public School with no Environmental Impact Statement, no koala survey, and no genuine community consultation.
We fully support new preschools for our Port community, sadly this location will:
- Destroy part of a vital koala corridor that our school and kids have invested in
- Significantly reduce our children’s playground and greenspace by two-thirds
- Impact the wellbeing and safety of local students, families and community forever
The urgency means we need to raise funds quickly to obtain expert advice that can pause the development and force proper local consultation with the community, environmental specialists, and the school and surrounding residents.
Where Your Contribution Goes:
- Expert and legal advice
- Campaign materials and community outreach
Any unused funds will be shared equally between Tacking Point Primary School’s P&C to continue to invest in the well-being and future of our children, the Koala Hospital, and Landcare- to care for our koalas, and environment.
Together, we can protect our children’s play spaces and safeguard the koalas that make Port Macquarie and our school so special and have a locally designed Preschool solution that the whole community will be proud of.
