Co-parenting my son, Noah, has brought some unexpected challenges since his mom and I divorced in 2020. I have had to make career and personal choices that have been right for Noah, but have made life a struggle, financially.
My son was born in the winter of 2017, the year I moved to Western Massachusetts. After a rocky beginning, separating from his mom, and struggling through the pandemic, I have been working toward buying a home for us the last couple of years.
At the same time, co-parenting has become increasingly contentious after his mother threatened to remove him to a location several hours away.
Being Noah's father has been the greatest unfolding blessing of my life, even during the significant challenges of figuring out how to support his development as a neurodivergent child.
Now, the prospect of a significant and costly litigation over his custody has arisen at the same moment that I am on the cusp of securing a long-term home for us on the farm that I have been leasing. At this moment I cannot possibly cover the legal costs on my own.
Your support will ensure that I am able to retain a legal representative that can help me protect Noah's best interests by maintaining equal custody and negotiating a parenting agreement that provides better protections for his well being going forward.
