Many of you may already know the name Medgar Evers or Myrlie Evers-Williams, both civil rights leaders and activists. I am Daniel Medgar Evers-Everette, their grandson, and this is a plea for help.

This plea is to protect my grandmother. She is 92 years young and unable to defend herself from isolation and mistreatment. By the state of California, "Isolation: Preventing an elder from having contact with friends, family, or necessary services." This is defined as elder abuse.

My grandmother and I spoke every week. I visited her multiple times a month, and it has been over a year since I have seen her. Her direct phone number of over 25 years was disconnected and changed.

I have contacted Adult Protective Services and filed many claims. I contacted law enforcement and was told it was a civil case, so I need the assistance of a lawyer, but the cost is higher than I can afford.

I am asking for help to protect my mentor, my mother figure, the most kind and giving person I know. Please help me fight for her... help me protect Myrlie.
