I’ve set up this fund hoping to help my sister, Catherine, who was cheated on and driven out of her home by her soon-to-be ex-husband.
It’s been less than a month since she was forced to leave, and her STBEx has not only already moved the woman he cheated with into their family home, but he has also made it clear that he intends to take their 1-year-old son, Louis. His main argument for taking primary custody is that Catherine is no longer physically present in what was previously their shared apartment.
What he’s done and still doing is deeply cruel, and none of us ever believed he would ever do something this callous.
Catherine gave up her career to raise Louis. She is a devoted mother, brilliant, funny, and works hard to help everyone around her. She has been taking care of her son, niece and nephew all while attending school remotely, and wants only to keep her child and herself healthy and happy. We have, as a family, come together to help as best we can, but lawyers are expensive, and unfortunately, we’ll need one to make sure both Catherine and Louis have as good an outcome as they can in this situation.
Things your money will go to:
- Paying a lawyer’s retainer to ensure that both my sister and Louis have their needs considered in the divorce
- Helping to rebuild my sister’s life after so much of it was upturned by a cheating spouse and destroyed trust.
- Helping to offset the fact that her STBEx has not provided any financial assistance for her to take care of their child whatsoever since he drove her out of their home.
Things your money won’t go to:
- Hurting her ex. While we’re all deeply disappointed in what he’s doing, no one in the family wants anything except to protect my sister and nephew. The circumstances are awful, but Catherine and Louis should not have to pay for his wandering eye.
