Protect Maximino's Family: Legal Fundraiser

My name is Eddie Trujillo, and I am currently attending Northern Arizona University to obtain my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I made this GoFundMe to help with my dad's legal fees while he is detained by ICE. His name is Maximino Robles, or some may know him as Chimino.

ICE detained my dad on the 16th of April in the early morning, right when he had just left the house to go to work. ICE had forced him out of his work truck and treated him like a criminal while they forced him to the ground, hurting my dad in the process. He asked ICE for his medication before they had taken him to a center, and afterwards, my family had no idea where they were officially taking him until after 12 hours of hopeless waiting. He is currently held at the Florence detention center. The bail for my father is said to be a minimum of $2,000, not including all other legal fees such as lawyers.

I was informed about this ten minutes before my 9 AM class at NAU. Trying to ignore the idea of the man who had raised me for more than fifteen years being taken away from his family, I knew he would want me to keep pushing and to thrive in school. I am not the only child of his, he has five other children who look up to him as a father figure. Though he may have never had biological kids of his own, that does not make him less of a father. He works hard to help pay for my college and to keep a roof over our heads while he works at a job that is very hard on his body as a construction worker.

No matter your opinions or feelings about illegal immigrants, please understand that children's families are being taken away from them. Put yourself in my shoes, in the shoes of a child who had no father figure until my mother found her soulmate. A single mother who worked endlessly and who never got to see her kids because of how much she had to work, until she found a man who stepped up and took care of us. A father who helped raise two kids who turned out to be a first-generation university student and another who became a U.S. Marine. That man is Maximino Robles, my father.
