Mother Sereen is *still* suffering from severe anemia and pain, although (with your help!) she has received a successful appendectomy. What Sereen did not realize before she had the procedure was that extra nutrients and food would be needed to recover well. Now she is very weak after the operation. Her mental state is not improved by the sadness of her children because, for the second year in a row, Basant, Khalil and little Yazid will not receive any treats, new clothes or presents during the Holy time of Eid. These children deserve a moment of joy amidst the hellish circumstances. Their mother is still at a high risk of dying due to their lack of resources. PLEASE everyone, save our sister Sereen’s life! Grant the children a moment of joy, and donate generously!!
(I thank you from the bottom of my heart as this fundraiser's administrator, who does not have the money to contribute like I did previously...)

[Main fundraiser description below]

Hello kind folks on the right side of history,

I am Kylee Acoba from Texas, United States (also known as Dominique Luzon on the internet).

I am raising money on behalf of my dear friend, Sereen Alhassanat and her family: husband Bakr, daughter Basant (11), and sons Khalil (9) and Yazid (7). Sereen is a proud Palestinian woman who has now survived more persecution than any of us in the West can even fathom. She is a Master's graduate in Mass Communication and a future doctoral student, a speaker of Arabic, English & French, a talented cook and a loving wife and mother. Unfortunately, she has become the strongest person that I know.

Although Sereen is a proud woman of Palestinian heritage who would have never dreamed of leaving Gaza Strip before October 7 2023, Sereen has been forever changed. Her and her children will never be able to forget the images they have seen in recent years, the dear friends and family members that they have lost. They can, however, leave their land in favor of a safer, more normal life. This is what our family feels called to do: leave Gaza Strip and find refuge in neighboring Egypt. Sereen dreams of settling in a Western country like Canada or Ireland with her husband and children in the future. She is determined to complete her doctoral degree and share her story of survival with the world.

This fundraiser was created in April 2024 for the sole purpose of evacuating our family of 5. Fast forward to present, summer 2025... we wait for a renewed ceasefire, and for Rafah Crossing at the Southern border of Palestine and Northern Egypt to open. Only then can we resume our original efforts to get Sereen, her husband and their children out of Gaza Strip in earnest. To accomplish this incredible task we will need to raise $30,000 USD. This will cover bank fees, other middle-man fees and the $5,000 USD per adult and $2,500 USD per child required by the Rafah/Egypt border for safe and legal passage. This comes out to $17,500 USD for the passage of 2 adults and 3 children, and $12,000 USD for bank & transfer fees (which, as of June 2025, are sitting at 40 percent).

Thank you all so much for your generosity thus far. It has truly saved the lives of our family many times! In the spirit of honesty and transparency with those of you who have donated in the past, those who are considering donating for the first time... please know that these funds are collected and transferred to our family on a very regular basis. I, Kylee Acoba, transfer donations to Sereen twice a month on average. Our family is free to spend their donations how they see fit to ensure their survival. They have been able to rent a small house to shelter themselves, which is not free. Their rent is $1000 USD per month. They have had to pay exorbitant prices for what food they manage to find. Anything that is collected moving forward will continue to be dispersed to fund necessities like food, medicine, clothing, shelter, etc. as well as be saved for future evacuation.

PLEASE help by sharing this fundraiser with as many people as possible, and ALSO donating what you can financially! We understand if a person has little or no money to give, but please, if you are reading this, you have someone to share our message with. Share the link widely.

Blessings and a huge thank you to the 700+ donators who have contributed to the survival of Sereen's family! Your kindness truly has saved our precious family, and hopefully will continue on and lead to their new life which can begin after a ceasefire holds and the border is open.

If you have any questions concerning our legitimacy, details not listed in the description here, or other ways to donate, you are welcome to contact me, Kylee Acoba/Dominique Luzon, here on GoFundMe or other platforms. We are active on Instagram--
