Protect Jordan's Disabled Mom From Homelessness

Donation protected
I'm Christina, I'm a therapist, social worker, and community organizer raising funds on behalf of my friend and main squeeze, Jordan. Around Thanksgiving, Jordan's mom's health began to take a decline due to the stress associated with their grandmother's transition into hospice and end-of-life care. Things have only snowballed since then, and Jordan is now the primary carer for their mother, responsible for coordinating legal guardianship, financial decision making, and longterm health care needs. This stress is compounded by loss of family support by her previous caregivers, and now Jordan's mom is facing the threat of homelessness.

As you might imagine, this is several jobs in one and too much for one person to handle on their own. Jordan was also unemployed for the majority of last year, beginning just before the birth of my son, Lucito. In a feat of beautiful queer family building, Jordan was the known donor for my pregnancy, and was so beautifully supportive of me throughout my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period, despite the stress of needing to navigate job applications and make ends meet throughout a long lull in hiring in their field.

Jordan is part of the ayllu, my family and chosen kin network and community in both Brooklyn and Queens, and now they need our support. Donations received would go toward compensating them for expenses that they have already incurred, including medical and hospital bills, survival needs (rent, utilities, etc) and legal representation for their mom, as well as refurnishing their apartment to be safe for a dementia patient, and costs associated with finding a home health aid and assisted living help, so that they are able to devote time and energy to their work.

Please give what you can and share widely so that we can help Jordan feel supported and cared for during this stressful transition to primary caregiving for their mother. The situation now is entirely due the lack of a social safety net, but if we come together and care for each other, we can keep each other safe and afloat in these turbulent times.
