Leeland Road and the larger Falmouth community is in danger of urban sprawl. We are fighting for better planning by our board of supervisors and planning commission to moderate the warp speed development of homes along Leland Road. Building is running rampant, ignoring school capacity, traffic, and road safety, quickly turning our beloved Falmouth into Garrisonville and North Stafford.
This funding is specifically to support the fight against over development as a result of poor planning and moderation by our board of supervisors.
A 140 plus home development is proposed on Cliff Farm Road currently, with an additional 180 acres likely to be developed next, adding another 600 homes in the form of workforce housing, or worse.
We have met with the developer, our board of supervisors representative as well as the planning commission representatives and all other utility department heads and continue to ask for answers.
So far, there is NO PLAN to utilize the school property of 180 acres. The School Board has NOT relinquished the property to Stafford County after it was requested.
This funding will support creation of signage, legal fees social media campaigns. All surplus funds will be donated to a local charity at close of the campaign.
We love Falmouth with its rural charm and conveniences, but we unfortunately need to stand and fight this actively, as it seems our local representatives do not have our best interests at heart.
Please, support this worthy cause and help protect Falmouth.
