We are the Community Accountability Network (CAN) — a group of four retired professionals and long-time residents who came together after recognizing that our community could benefit from a highly organized, collaborative group focused on bringing greater clarity, coordination, and advocacy to homeowners’ needs.

Over the past few months, we have been working to understand the true condition of our community—its finances, its governance, and the risks that may be affecting every homeowner.

This effort became urgent when we learned of alleged financial mismanagement by Gasser in other communities, including accounts being moved around in ways described by investigators as “whack-a-mole.” At the same time, Regent, who hires and controls both Gasser and the Board, has repeatedly declined to provide basic financials, records, or information despite multiple, documented requests.

This lack of transparency, combined with problems uncovered elsewhere, puts our homeowners at real risk. Without answers, we cannot know whether our dues have been handled appropriately or whether future large, unexpected assessments may be pushed onto residents to rebuild reserves that should have been maintained all along.

That is why CAN is raising funds now.

What This Fundraiser Supports (Urgent & Time-Sensitive)

We are working to secure the initial legal retainer needed to formally engage an attorney on behalf of the community.

Once funded, the attorney can immediately begin:

• Reviewing our governing documents

• Coordinating with law enforcement already investigating similar issues

• Securing the records that Regent and Gasser have not provided

• Assessing our financial exposure and legal protections

• Laying the groundwork to stabilize and protect Carothers Crossing

This is the first and most essential step toward clarity, accountability, and safeguarding homeowners from preventable financial harm.
