Help April and Her Children Escape Racial Harassment and Violence
My name is April, and I’m a mom just trying to raise my children in peace. But that peace was shattered the day we moved into our home in the Shores neighborhood of Ocala, Florida.
Since Day One, our next-door neighbor has targeted us with nonstop racial harassment, screaming slurs from her porch, telling us we don’t belong in the neighborhood, and poisoning the air with her hate.
Then recently, it got violent. She sprayed bear spray at me and my babies. My 3-year-old and 6-year-old were directly hit.
Imagine the pain. Imagine the fear. Imagine your babies screaming while someone who hates the color of their skin attacks them for existing.
I’ve called the police before, but they didn’t act until this happened. Now she’s finally been arrested and charged with 3 counts of battery. But I know this isn’t over. She’ll be out soon, and I truly fear what she might do next.
We can’t stay here. I don’t want to wait for this situation to escalate even further.
I’m humbly asking for help so my children and I can move somewhere safe. We need funds for:
• First and last month’s rent
• A security deposit
• A moving truck and basic supplies
Every dollar helps. Every share helps. If you’ve ever felt unsafe or unwelcome, you know how urgent this is. Please help us reclaim our peace and protect these babies.
Thank you for standing with us.
