My name is Ashley, and I am a mother, the executive director of PFLAG of the Roaring Fork Valley, the founder of the Queer Resource Space in New Castle, a transgender woman, and a leader of our local queer community. I have dedicated my life to supporting and advocating for the queer community in our area. I work closely with local GSAs, speak out at government meetings, and focus especially on protecting trans people and trans youth. Recently, my commitment to this work has put my family and me in a difficult and dangerous position.
After my fiancé took emergency guardianship of an abused and unhoused trans teen, we became the targets of relentless harassment and threats. The attacks have been led by a far right online personality with a history of targeting queer people and their allies. Because I am a witness in the emergency guardianship case, we have been singled out making our lives incredibly stressful and unsafe. We are working with a lawyer to secure protection orders and we are prepared to take further legal action if necessary. Our next court date is next week, and the costs are already mounting.
We are asking for help to cover legal fees, court costs, and to ensure this young man's safety and well-being. Any support will help us continue standing up to those who seek to harm our community and will send a message that bullying and harassment have no place here. Your contribution will make a real difference for us, for this kiddo, and for the broader queer community in the Roaring Fork Valley. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
Thanks to the support of a generous Donor, all donations will be matched.
