”If the Harlem Shake and Ballet Idaho had a one-night stand, Project Flux would be the result.”
Boise Weekly said this about us when we launched in 2013, and we believe those words hold true today. We’ve spent nine incredible years pushing boundaries, stretching limits, and finding beauty in the uncomfortable. We’ve screamed our way through hug wars, danced among charred tree trunks, and set movement to writings by incarcerated artists. We’ve re-imagined.
Our community has taken Project Flux to where we are today. You’ve come to classes and shows. You’ve given us spaces to create and perform. You have inspired us to continue growing, dive deeper into challenges, and keep reinventing. So here we are, in our ninth year, with our biggest project to date. With the help of our friends at Par Terre Winery, Project Flux is thrilled to announce that we are one step closer to our long-held aspirations of opening a space of our own. We combined our love for art, wine, and the unconventional to transform the Par Terre tasting room into Project Flux’s rehearsal and performance venue.
Project Flux cannot begin to operate in the new space without safe and adequate flooring. Dance organizations require a sprung floor for the safety of our dancers, students, and local performers. This type of floor offers the assurance of better protection and reduced risk of injury through impact, slipping, or falling.
The cost of this floor is $27,000 and includes:
- 800 sq. ft. portable sprung floor. The portability opens the opportunity for the floor to provide safety in multiple environments (e.g., outdoor spaces, schools and after-school outreach performances.)
- 800 sq. ft. of vinyl Marley double-sided panels. It’s hard-wearing and slip-resistant, with different colors on each side, providing two floors in one.
- The cost of equipment to transport both the portable floor and the Marley panels.
- The cost of shipping for all equipment.
These floors have a lifespan of 10-15 years when used regularly.
Please help us share safely with you! Could you get us to our $25,000 goal? Please donate what you can, spread the word, and let's dance!
