Project Wingman USA

Project Wingman USA  is organized by furloughed/grounded airline staff wanting to help and support health care professionals during COVID-19. Originally launched in the UK early April, the US arm opened  up its first so-called first class lounges at Flushing and Jamaica Medical Centers in Queens early May. They are fittingly the official hospitals for LaGuardia and JFK airports, respectively, and close to where a lot of NYC-based crew live, allowing for crew to take care of the professionals that usually take care of them.

Uniformed crew from a number of airlines (Norwegian Air, JetBlue, Delta, American, United, Endeavor Air, etc.) have signed up to volunteer, and will provide peer support in these lounges, where medical staff will be able to come during/after/before their shifts to relax and take their minds off COVID-19.

We are sourcing donations directly from a number of providers, some sponsoring baked goods, beverages, etc., but we are also sourcing cash donations to help us buy anything from additional snacks and goodies to plants to put in the lounges to help cover transportation for donations or for grounded crew to get to the hospitals.
You can read more about the launch here or the British original in The Guardian.

Project Wingman USA is a partner of FLAG-NYC (Front Line Appreciation Group).
