Project Wingman - supporting the NHS
Project Wingman is a charity that was set up in March 2020 in direct response to the Covid-19 pandemic to support the NHS. We have over 5000 volunteers made up of cabin crew and pilots from all UK airlines, whose unique skill set make them ideal for the job! Most of our volunteers are furloughed, or facing redundancy, but still want to help.
We provide wellness hubs styled as airport first class lounges in hospitals across the UK to give front-line NHS staff First Class treatment and a space to unwind, de-compress and de stress before, during and after hospital shifts. We are now working with 40 hospitals across the UK to support our NHS.
We work alongside the hospitals' crisis support teams to provide food, drinks and a calm space for their staff to use, as well as feeding directly into their mental health support network.
We are a volunteering charity, our volunteers are our strength. We are working with a number of businesses who are supporting us with generous donations, however we would like to raise money to pay for the following things:
- A regular supply of tea, coffee, milk and snacks to offer to front-line NHS staff.
- Our only overheads are two online platforms that we use to email and coordinate the charity as our management team work remotely during lock down.
