Hey, it's Dylan! On this page, you can help support me on an adventure of a lifetime, one I can only hope will make me a better man. I will be thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, 2,650 miles from the border of Mexico to Canada. I'm doing this to spread awareness for mental health and to raise money for the Wildland Firefighter Foundation. I have been a wildland firefighter since 2014 and have made the decision to be sober since New Years of 2021. This has changed my life and shaped my perspective on mental health and the relationships with people around me. In this time I have also noticed a disturbing pattern in the fabric of our culture and our fire community. One that will always need constant attention and reflection, much like mental health. In order for things to change, we must be comfortable with being uncomfortable. We must be able and willing to choose the hard right over the easy wrong. Mental health isn't something that just goes away; it follows us everywhere we go in this life (which for me included quitting my full-time job and wanting to carry a chainsaw as I hike across the country for something much bigger than myself). If my story in some small way has inspired you to be brave, to show your courage, and be vulnerable; please consider passing on your drive-thru coffee or that can of dip in your freakin lip and instead choose to donate directly to the Wildland Fire Foundation or this GoFundMe to help me cover some of my expenses while on this journey (such as food, gear and my dog Nova back home). & remember to be yourself and love yourself because you are enough, always!
