For those who don't know me; my name is Kris Kasuya. I've lived in Toronto for 14 years and have been lucky enough to build a family here and truly call the city my home. Over the past few years, I have worked to raise money for a couple Organizations which have felt particularly close to me. The funds that we were able to raise have typically been through an annual Golf Tournament (The Bogey Bunch) which has been heavily supported by Hospitality Professionals, Bondi Produce, and many others Vendors/Partners from our Industry.
For years now, I have always wanted to contribute to the Community in a more positive way but have always been sidetracked come the colder months. This year, I have decided to make the leap and commit my time and effort to the cause. I have always admired and been inspired by those who are taking a lead in pushing forward to create a positive change to the community in which they live in. My family and I are privileged to have a safe, warm home, with fresh healthy & nutritious food to eat. And I strongly believe that I can contribute back to the community with the help of my personal and professional networks.
The goal is to raise $20,000 between now and the end of December . The funds raised collectively through this time will be to distributed in the following ways:
- Warm Meals: I have a goal to provide 500 hot meals to those in need. I would love to see this number double or triple if we can make it happen. Funds will be contributed to cost of raw food supplies and packaging.
- Winter Clothing: Purchasing warm items such as toques, gloves, socks, and sleeping bags to distribute to those in shelters, tents, or on the street.
- Logistics & Distribution: At this time, I plan to use my own vehicle to distribute goods throughout the month of December. Depending on size and amounts, unexpected courier costs may arise.
I am anticipating some additional unexpected expenses, but I have been reaching out to some of my partners/donators in the past for additional support on costs/supplies to mitigate as many speedbumps as possible. My vision is simple: To give back with something as small as a warm meal or basic Winter supplies to those who need it most. We can make a real difference in the lives of those who may not be as fortunate as we are.
Any and every dollar donated - whether it’s $5 or $500, it will go such a long way in providing some basic necessities. These necessities ensure a person's dignity, safety, and health, especially during these harsh Winter months. All additional funds left over will be distributed to CAMH and Haven On The Queensway.
With the help of my employer Bondi Produce & Specialty Food, we are currently in the process of becoming a registered charity with the Government of Canada. This is an exciting opportunity that we are very passionate in pursuing to further our fundraising for community initiatives. If you have any questions, concerns, physical donations, or want to help in any way; please do not hesitate to connect with me via this page or directly if you have my personal contact.
Thank you and look forward to providing updates along the way. I would appreciate if you could share this link to anyone in your network who may be able to support.
