Project Tomcat: Preserving an American Aviation Legend
I am Jonathan aka Need for Speed RC, a private pilot, owner of a 1/5 scale remote control twin turbine F-14 Tomcat, and an avid F-14 Tomcat enthusiast. I am organizing this fundraiser to support the restoration and preservation of an F-14 Tomcat under the Maverick Act. The F-14 Tomcat is more than just a fighter aircraft — it is a symbol of American innovation, naval aviation history, and the generations of pilots, maintainers, and sailors who served aboard carriers around the world. For decades, the Tomcat represented the cutting edge of air superiority and became one of the most iconic aircraft ever built. Today, only a handful remain, and even fewer have any chance of restoration or preservation for future generations.
Project Tomcat was created with one mission: To help preserve, restore, and protect one of the last surviving F-14 Tomcats as a living piece of aviation history. With growing public support for preserving historic military aircraft through efforts like the Maverick Act, we believe this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to save an irreplaceable American icon before it is lost forever.
This campaign will help support long-term restoration efforts with the sole goal to allow at least one F-14 Tomcat to reach airworthy status where legally and technically possible. If the restoration efforts cannot legally or practically proceed, all unused donated funds will be donated to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.
Every contribution — no matter the size — helps keep the legacy of the Tomcat alive. This project is about more than restoring an aircraft. It is about honoring naval aviation history, preserving the stories of those who flew and maintained these machines, and inspiring future generations to dream bigger. We are committed to transparency throughout this journey and will provide regular updates, restoration progress, and financial accountability to all supporters.
The Tomcat inspired generations. Now we have the opportunity to help preserve its legacy together. Join us. Help bring the legend back to life.
