Project to build a centre for women and children

Hi I am Julia, founder of NGO Virtuous Women for Christ Ivory Coast - (NGO VWC-CI) part of City of Truth Ministries UK a UK registered Charity created in 2017.

In the city of Abidjan specifically, there is no public reception centre for the care of women and children, the cost of living only increases the number of diminishing families more and more. In the care of these families in difficult situations, the precarious situation of one of the parents, generally the mother, causes the impoverishment of the families who must provide for daily needs. Given that in Ivory Coast unemployed people do not benefit from any allowance, families are faced with the most basic needs of daily life which are shelter, food, water, electricity. When it comes to health and education, let’s not talk about it, they constitute a luxury for these families. Unfortunately, in this situation the most vulnerable group remains women and children.

We want to build a reception, training and reintegration center for ex-inmates and their children, Songon M’Brathé Yacé just outside Abidjan , in Ivory Coast .

Many are victims of abandonment by their partners, spouses, and find themselves on the street once free, and without help they are likely to reoffend and go back to prison, it's dramatic.

It is indeed imperative for our NGO to set up a reception, training, and reintegration center to welcome them. A center with a capacity for 10 mothers and around 20 children aged 0 to 15 who can be cared for for a period of 6 months to 1 year.

During this period, in the centre our main goals will be on health, education, nutrition and assistance for reintegration. The residents will be trained in literacy as well as sewing, hairdressing, carpentry, etc. The Reception Centre will allow these families to benefit from a healthy environment, a family friendly space. It will also ensure the comprehensive development of children in a secure environment.

We have already secured the land and the help of an architect.
