Donation protected
THE NEED:
We're Team Project Poland, and we're on a mission to help as many refugees in Poland as we can. As of mid-March, there are 1.7 million refugees who have fled across the border to Poland. Let that sink in a minute - 1.7 million.
This crisis is personal to our group for different reasons, but ultimately, we all felt compelled to do something concrete to help. One goal is to broadcast to our communities what’s going on at the border and which organizations are in the most need of help. Many in our group are Russian-speakers and can offer translations services.
OUR PLAN:
Monday, March 14 we fly to Vilnius, Lithuania and rent vehicles, including a camper van. We'll drive to a border town in Poland, where we have contacts expecting us. We will sleep and eat in our camper van until we return a week later. The idea is that we don't take away resources from those in the crisis area.
THE ASK:
If you are moved by the plight of this tragedy, we'd love it if you considered a donation to our fund. Know that ALL of your donation will go to helping those in need. We’re funding our gas/car/camper rental expenses ourselves.
We have made contact with many great people and organizations doing fantastic work at reception points in the area. At this time, we are not recommending donations to any one particular organization, but we’re hoping to identify who is doing the most effective work with incoming funds once we’re on the ground. It may be that the best plan is simply to buy diapers or strollers, for example, so in that situation we would use funds for purchasing goods for individuals at the border. We’ll know more when we get there.
If people need a ride, we'll drive them. If we can help with translation, clothes, food, or basic needs, we'll do that, too. And we'll serve organizations as those needs evolve. We'll update you on our journey and where we think the biggest needs exist.
