Athens County has over 5,000 adults and over 2,000 children on SNAP benefits. In a couple of days people in our community will lose their ability to access food. I am starting a grocery buddies group in our area during this time. If you would like to be a volunteer to help or you are someone requesting assistance, please fill out the google form.
Project Grocery Buddy will connect community members with a Grocery Buddy. Here’s how it will work: A grocery buddy will commit to spending a certain amount of extra money per week for the month of November for someone in the community that needs food assistance. Once they are in contact with your Grocery Buddy, they will discuss with each other grocery lists needs and how you want to handle the shopping. They could go together or just give a list of items needed, and arrange how to pickup your groceries. We will do our best to create buddies based on what one can contribute weekly and what one needs weekly.
We will confirm a connection has been made and then delete all contact information!
