I never imagined I would find myself writing something like this, but sometimes life puts you in a position where you have to put your pride aside and simply ask for a little help and let your community in on your struggles. Right now, my family is facing a difficult financial season. Several months ago, my life changed when I received my Addison’s disease diagnosis. Since then, there have been doctor visits, medical expenses, prescriptions, testing, and bills that seem to keep piling up. My medical journey isn’t quite over yet. I have an upcoming procedure to have a pump placed that will help manage my cortisol levels more effectively. I’m hopeful that this will help make managing my condition easier, it also comes with another round of appointments and expenses. We have done everything we can to keep up, to not show the girls our struggles, to keep them feeling normal, safe, and supported no matter the cost, but sometimes the dollar just can’t be stretched anymore. That’s why I started this. I’m asking for help with the everyday things that have become harder to manage—groceries, gas, household necessities, and other expenses (competitive cheer is season is right around the corner and anyone that knows my daughter knows this is her world) and we truly would never want to take that experience and sport from her. If your able, know that your kindness would mean so much. A gift card might seem small, but even $5 can make a real difference. It can mean groceries, gas, or simply one less expense. More than anything, I want my girls to feel safe and supported as they always have been. We may be struggling right now, but we are not giving up. Asking for help is not easy for me. I’m used to being the person who tries to helps others, not the person asking for help. But right now, my family could really use a little kindness. Everyone has their own struggles, and I would never expect anyone to give what they cannot afford. But if your able to help, please know that it would mean more to us than I could ever put into words. This is just a difficult chapter —not our whole story. I am already so incredibly thankful for every person who chooses to walk alongside my family during this. Whether you give, share our story, pray for us, or simply took the time to read this, please know that none of it is taken for granted. “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” -1 Thessalonians 5:18
