My name is Heather Aldag and I am advocating for the special needs and at risk in our community. I'm a Mom to an amazing little boy, Theodore, who has Autism. Safety is always a big concern for me , my son is unaware of danger and actively seeks it out. He is an eloper at school, at home and in public. My biggest fear as a parent is what if he managed to slip away. He doesn't respond to his name and is mostly non-verbal. One in 44 children are diagnosed with Autism and up to 49% of those diagnosed will engage in wandering behavior. The national average for recovering a missing person is 9 hours and that single search could cost a department $9,000-$12,000 if not more. The average recovery time with this technology is 30 minutes. Project Lifesaver is a search rescue system including wearable trackers, antennae, radio frequency, and portable receiver designed to locate individuals who are at-risk for wandering/elopement, like those with Autism, Dementia, Alzheimer's and cognitive disabilities Our Sheriff Jim Steinkuehler is supporting this project and we will be able to serve the at risk in Crawford County. We are raising funds for the start up costs, equipment and training. We would have a core team of search and rescue professionals trained from law enforcement and fire departments in Crawford County. Please help in anyway that you can this program would be such a blessing to our community and a great preventative measure. We would offer this at no charge and will be ran by donation. Thank you for your support!
