Project Lecompton Ball Field
Donation protected
Lecompton has always cared about it’s history. It’s Civil War roots, it’s old high school (how ‘bout those Lecompton Owls?) - and now it’s ball field.
A lot of work has been put into the field thanks to donations from friends, family and community. We cannot thank these individuals enough for helping us tackle the initial revitalization of the field!!! (Before and after pics coming soon!)
So now that the small stuff is out of the way, it’s time to tackle some bigger projects, and we could greatly use your help!!!
Some immediate projects that we have identified that we are hoping to work on soon:
1. Replacing the railroad ties in front of the third base dugout.
2. Running tension wire along the fence line to prevent further curling up.
3. Replace boards on the bleachers and leveling them off.
4. Build a backstop for the pitching area alongside the batting cage.
5. L-screens. We have been patching together screens using pipe and old net.
Our pie in the sky list:
1. Grass. It would be nice to have grass in the outfield instead of wild onions, dandelions and whatever that purple stuff is.
2. Turf the batting cage and someday the practice area beside it.
I’m sure I can think of more, but this will keep us busy for a while.
Now…where to make donations part.…
You can donate here or if you like writing checks, (I seriously can’t remember the last time I wrote a check) you can write it out to:

Everything we have done and will do will be posted on this page. We are proud of our community - AND WE ARE PROUD OF OUR FIELD!!!!
Thank you!!!!
